Leonard Cheshire Disability is a charity which empowers disabled people to live with independence and choice, both in the UK and overseas.
On 22 May 1948, former RAF pilot Leonard Cheshire took a dying man, who had nowhere else to go, into his home. With no money, Leonard nursed the man himself. They became friends and this one act of kindness sowed the seeds for what was to become our charity today, which supports thousands of disabled people worldwide.
